Whizbang Films and Storyteller Pictures wrap principal photography on Bruce McDonald’s Halloween haunter - HELLIONS

November 29th, 2013 TORONTO - Maverick indie director Bruce McDonald (Hard Core Logo, Pontypool) wrapped principal photography this week on the Halloween horror thriller HELLIONS. Whizbang Films and Storyteller Pictures are producing from an original screenplay by Pascal Trottier (The Colony). The story follows a teen, played by Chloe Rose (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”), who must survive a Halloween night from Hell when three malevolent trick-or-treaters come knocking. Rose is joined on screen by Robert Patrick (“True Blood”, “The X-Files”, Terminator 2), in the role of tough cop Mike Corman. The cast also includes Rossif Sutherland (“Reign”, “Crossing Lines”, “ER”), Rachel Wilson (“Republic of Doyle”, “The Kennedy’s”), Peter Dacunha (Haunter, “Reign”) and Luke Bilyk (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”),

Producer Frank Siracusa says, “Our cast and crew, delivered beyond our wildest expectations. Bruce and our cinematographer Norayr Kasper have done something unprecedented by shooting the film predominantly in digital infrared. It’s stunning and I can’t wait to show it to the world.” Adds Producer Paul Lenart, “I am so excited about what we achieved on this shoot: a stylish and atmospheric modern horror, that doesn’t shy away from blood and gore. For now, we are offering fans a little taste by releasing our first official production still: not in infrared, but blood red—so just as cool.”

McDonald is now headed into the edit suite with editor Duff Smith. More news, photos, and a first look video will follow in the months to come.

HELLIONS is produced by Frank Siracusa of Whizbang Films and Paul Lenart of Storyteller Pictures. The film is produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada, and in association with Bell Media’s The Movie Network and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central.
